'June' describes the glinting skyline of a world reopened. It was written for some sense of future celebration. June 21st (2021) was when all the lockdown restrictions were meant to be lifted. We were looking forward to being able to resume normal life with friends and family. “I’d been listening to a lot of Abdullah Ibrahim and South African Jazz music, which has so much celebration and hope in it, communicated really simply and soulfully. So, I was trying to capture some of that” Noah Stoneman (composer).
One of those rare musicians that are about to establish a sound rather than putting out “just another excellent” recording. Well, this is for sure another excellent recording; and it is as well a continuation of that what has been expressed in previous ones.
Most of all “Arashi No Ato” stands out for its collective effort, that equally inspires and delivers. The love for every musician and instrument shines through in every composition, arrangement and solo performed on this record. Vikrant Kumar Thomas Junk
